Published by Forest and Stream in 1889 this is a seminal work indeed. Stephens was a prolific designer at the turn of the century and held in high esteem. This is a very valuable work for all those interested in boat building, canoes, small sailing boats and early American designs. Among the designs covered in this work are Racing and Cruising Canoes, Canoe Yawls and hard-to-find coverage of the Barnegat Sneakbox, the Barnegat Cruiser, the Rob Roy Canoe, and the Delaware River Ducker and Tuckup. Our edition is printed and bound to duodecimo long (71/4" X 11" in order to better reproduce the plates which were printed to 11" X 17" in the original.) Numerous illustrations and 50 full-page plates. A separate portolio of the plates only (no text), printed to their original size of 11" X 17" is also available. Pub No. 0147.
